Wordsworth!!!!! Poetry!!!!!

Here is a beautiful little excerpt from something I read today in English. It's from William Wordsworth's "Lines" from "Tintern Abbey" or something. In the poem he's talking to his sister alot about his love for nature and how it's helped his transistion from youth to maturity, and then a lot of other stuff about his sister. But just look at this:

"...For I have learned
To look on nature, not as in the hour
Of thoughtless youth; but hearing oftentimes
The still, sad music of humanity,
Nor harsh nor grating, though of ample power
To chasten and subdue. And I have felt
A presence that disturbs me with the joy
Of elevated thoughts; a sense sublime
Of something far more deeply interfused,
Whose dwelling is the light of setting suns,
And the round ocean and the living air,
And the blue sky, and in the mind of man:
A motion and a spirit, that impels
All thinking things, all objects of all thought,
And rolls through all things."

Whew. Good stuff.

I haven't got much else other than that. I think that is very beautiful though, so I hope you do too. Poetry is just such a cool thing to me because of the truths that you can recieve from it about God or the human condtion and I've fallen even more in love with it as of late. To steal a line from a painted wall: "A good poem is almost never what it seems to be about"... so it's fun to dig for the truth and intent within the literary. Cooooool.

And yes, I am a social work major.

Today's good mood is inspired by good people. The weather? I hate it, but it's ok.

A friend brought to light last night how greatly we're impacted by the people we choose to surround ourselves with and how even more evident it is to witness these changes when we all come back from breaks. This isn't necessarily a new concept or anything quite obviously, but it was just brought to my attention yet again. And I believe that's why my mood is so optimistic today, because the ones I've been with lately just feel right. They provoke healthy thinking. It's refreshing to contemplate such things.

Much to do today. Apparently I have to drive down to Austin tomorrow or something. No real complaints. I just wish Hayley or Kara were able to come.

Oh well
